Welcome
Over
the course of this past month, a few questions have arisen
that, I think, should be addressed - as many of you may
have the same questions.
#1.
Isn't Young Living Essential Oils an MLM program?
Yes,
it is. The beauty of YLEO, however, is that you never
have to sell anything to use the products - even if you
want wholesale pricing. For instance, I became a distributor,
not to sell, but because I knew that I'd be using a lot
of product and wanted a discounted price. This lasted
for five years. During that first five years, I never
even tried to build a business!
The
best thing, though, about YLEO's program, is that there
is no (zero, zilch, nada) monthly commitment.
Unlike other MLM programs (where you are stuck with an
autoship program until the product is over-flowing your
cupboards, and you finally quit), you can order from Young
Living just once a year if that's all you want.
#2.
What is the fee for qualifying for wholesale pricing?
In
order to purchase with wholesale pricing, you need to
order a $40 starter kit, or one of the special kits that
contain a starter kit. A list of these can be found at:
http://essentialsoflife.net/web/bizopp.htm
The wonderful thing about Young Living is that you NEVER
have to sell any oils to qualify for wholesale pricing.
There is also NO monthly commitment (though the autoship
program does offer additional savings, and credit toward
free products), unless you desire to qualify for a commission
check. To maintain your membership status, you do have
to place one order a year of at least 50 PV.
#3.
What is PV?
PV
is short for Personal Volume. Mostly, a product's PV is
associated with how much it costs wholesale. For instance,
Lavender's wholesale price is $20.75 and the PV value
is 20.75. The PV value is used to determine commissions
and qualifications. The only time that you really need
to pay attention to the PV value is if a) you want to
qualify for a check, or b) you want to qualify for a special
promotion (a couple of times a year, there is a free gift
to those who buy 250PV worth of product), or c) you're
enrolled in the autoship program. There is no PV value
for business tools such as catalogs, DVDs, and audio.
If you have more questions, please feel free to ask! In
the mean time, I hope that you enjoy this newsletter...

Spring
into Cleaning
Spring
is here-are you ready for some sunshine and fresh air?
Winter certainly has its wonders; unfortunately, indoor
allergens can rise to all-time highs during the winter
months when houses are kept warmer and well sealed against
the cold air. All that dust and grime that accumulate
inside our homes make for an unhealthy environment.
Now that warmer weather is here, how can you bottle
all that fragrant crispness of springtime and create
a cleaner, healthier home environment? Here are five
super tips that will make your spring cleaning a breeze!
1. Before you clean, gather your essential supplies.
Prepare one pail that you can carry with you throughout
the house. (Kids love to help, so be sure to have their
supplies ready as well.) Your cleaning pail should contain
a bottle of Thieves®
Household Cleaner, an empty spray bottle, Purification®
essential oil blend, a few rags, and empty garbage bags.
2. Make a plan by deciding which rooms to tackle first.
Next, select your favorite air-purifying essential oil
and diffuse it throughout your home while you're cleaning.
(Spring favorites include the fresh aromas of lemon,
orange,
and Citrus
Fresh™.) Now turn on fun, upbeat music, and you're
ready to clean!
3. Start the laundry (including all bedding, towels,
and curtains), and be sure to add a capful (or 1 teaspoon)
of Thieves®
Household Cleaner to each load for added freshness.
While the laundry is washing, you'll be able to work
in other rooms of the house.
4. For each room you work in, fill your pail with hot
water and Thieves®
Household Cleaner, (See the label for recommended
dilution ratios.) Dip your rag in, wring out excess
water, and wipe walls, doors, tile and linoleum floors,
and vinyl blinds. Thieves Household Cleaner is excellent
on most surfaces (especially in bathrooms and kitchens)
and is truly safe since it's free of toxic chemicals.
For areas that may need the additional power of Purification
(you know, those really yucky areas where there are
hard water stains, mold, or unpleasant odors), pour
4-5 drops of Purification in your spray bottle and mix
with water. Then spray in the air or directly on surfaces.
This method is especially useful for washing out trashcans.
5. Finish your spring cleaning by vacuuming, dusting,
and putting laundry away, By adding essential oils to
your vacuuming and dusting as well (see tips below),
your home will have a lovely, refreshing scent in every
room.
"I put 5-10 drops of peppermint
and/or eucalyptus
essential oil on a single sheet of toilet paper and
then vacuum the sheet up. It emits a nice, uplifting
scent while I'm vacuuming."
-Janet Scalzo
"I like to put lemon
oil on a rag for dusting wood." -Rachelle Draegert
After such serious springtime scrubbing, remember to
reward yourself (and the kids too if they helped!).
You will enjoy peace of mind knowing that you have created
a clean, fresh-smelling environment for your family
to relax and live in and that you are doing all that
you can to protect the health of your loved ones.

Marketing
Tip
"The world is not your market. Find
a niche."
In other words, don't try to sell candy
to a diabetic; and, don't try to persuade someone that
they need cat shampoo when they don't even have a pet!

Why
Get Fit?
When
considering a fitness program, you must first ask yourself,
"Why do I want to be fit, and what do I hope to accomplish?"
When young, we may seek fitness so we can participate in sports,
accomplish some physical feat or become more attractive. As
we age, our focus starts to shift toward having more energy
or being able to do the things that we have always enjoyed.
Discovering
your true reasons for fitness may make the difference between
success and failure. The following are some common reasons
that people give for wanting to be fit.
Promotes
a Heightened Degree of Mental Function
Many of
us have witnessed the devastating effects mental deterioration
has on someone we know or love. It's terribly distressing
to an individual to remember faces but forget names, or to
become unable to recall important events or places. Older
people in good physical health do better in memory performance
than other elders. One study from the Mcarthur Foundation
Study on Aging found that more exercise caused corresponding
increases in a chemical substance (nerve growth factor) that
promotes growth of new brain cells.' Aerobic exercise also
increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, helping to maintain
mental function and ward off some forms of dementia.
Helps
To Maintain Independence
To lose
independence and completely rely on others becomes a frightening
prospect as we age. Most people cringe at the thought of having
to live out their lives in a nursing home. Maintaining a high
level of fitness helps sustain the strength required to execute
the basic activities of daily living. While a decline in strength
and agility is normal and can sometimes be influenced by sickness
or disease, the greatest physical mobility losses are due
to a lack of use. It's a matter of "use it or lose it."
Keep moving!
Helps
To Maintain a Healthy Weight
Over 99
million Americans are obese. Along with obesity, the chance
of becoming involved in accidents increases dramatically.
Healing time is longer, the immune system slows and the chances
of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and some
forms of cancer are greatly increased with obesity. Prevention
is easier than a cure. A regular fitness program is your best
defense against obesity and its negative effects.
Helps
Increase Self-Esteem
What do
you envision when you think of an old person? Do you see a
decrepit, weak, immobile, hunched over person? Or do you see
a vibrant 70 or 80-year-old at the gym, lifting weights, taking
dance lessons or practicing yoga? Yale obesity expert Kelly
Brownell, M.D., states that when people exercise they feel
better about themselves. It raises their self-confidence.2
Start now to be active. Envision yourself as living a rich
and full life.
What are
your reasons for being fit? If the above reasons don't motivate
you, take the time now, before you put down this newsletter,
and write down three reasons why you want to be fit. Then
set your fitness goals for a long and productive life. It's
never too early or too late to enjoy the benefits of fitness.
Keep in mind that what you do today impacts what you will
be able to do tomorrow.

House
of a Thousand Mirrors
Long ago
in a small, far away village, there was place known as the
House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of
this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced
happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked
through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail
wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found
himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their
tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile,
and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly.
As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is
a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often."
In this
same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy
as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed
the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door.
When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back
at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little
dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself,
"That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there
again."

Marcella
Vonn Harting: Pathway to Success
Marcella
Vonn Harting is renowned throughout Young Living as a passionate,
caring, and dynamic leader. As a new Crown Diamond, she
has reached the pinnacle of business success. While Marcella
is thrilled that she has reached this prestigious summit,
she expresses that her true joy comes from the people she
has met on her amazing climb. She shares, "I am so
pleased to have achieved my goal of Crown Diamond with the
new compensation plan. I am delighted to share my success
with so many wonderful friends and team members who have
been right beside me on this journey."
Mary Young, cofounder of Young Living, brought Marcella
into the company almost fourteen years ago. Marcella says,
"Mary called me and asked me if I had heard about aromatherapy.
I told her I didn't know anything about it. Mary said she
believed that essential oils could help my family. She was
right. Young Living not only helped my family, it changed
my entire life."
Like many distributors, Marcella became involved with Young
Living because of the health benefits of the oils, not to
build a business. She relates, "I wasn't interested
in making money because I was so focused on helping people
feel better. My husband is a successful business owner,
and I didn't have to work." Marcella was happy as a
housewife raising her family. It wasn't until her commission
check reached five figures per month that Marcella realized
she had built a successful business. She says, "I looked
at my check and went, 'Wow!' I suddenly felt such a strong
responsibility for all the people in my organization that
I actually sat down and cried."
In her journey to the top, she discovered that one of the
most important things in network marketing is clear communication.
She says, "Good team communication is vital. Leaders
have to find a way to stay in communication with their organization."
Marcella also believes that relationship building is essential.
She teaches that network marketing is ten percent business
and ninety percent relationships. Marcella has found that
good people skills are far more valuable than good business
skills. She shares, "This business is all about building
relationships. Network marketing is relationship marketing.
When people really understand this, their whole business
will take off."
In all her years with Young Living, Marcella has found that
even though the company is great, the compensation plan
is great, and the products are great, the bottom line is
that it is the people who make Young Living work.
Because of this belief, she teaches her team of distributors
the importance of knowing how to deal with people. She helps
them develop successful people skills. Marcella says that
one of the main reasons she is so focused on people is because
of her mentor, Mary Young. Marcella shares, "Mary taught
me many phenomenal things about network marketing. But the
most important thing Mary taught me was to help people by
discovering what they desire and then meeting those desires."
Looking back, Marcella acknowledges that the main reason
she has succeeded in network marketing is because of her
"people" focus. She relates, “I have always desired
to help everyone I meet, even if it meant that there would
not be a sale. There have been some times when I have helped
people and they did not become involved with Young Living."
Currently, Marcella finds great joy in mentoring and helping
others build their Young Living organizations. Always working
on personal improvement, Marcella is searching for ways
to become a better mentor. In this search, she reflects
on what she believes are the keys to success. She says,
“The key to this whole business is finding out how to support
people. People must learn how to get out of their own way,
or forget themselves, as they learn how to support others.
The greatest gift we can give in this business is support."
Continuing, she shares, "This business is so simple,
but we make it so complicated. The Compensation Plan bonus
structure Young Living has is powerful. Putting money in
people's pockets right out of the starting gate is an amazing
incentive that is creating a lot of new business builders."
Speaking about the changes she has seen over the years in
Young Living, Marcella said that she has a relatively new
team member who will be advancing to the rank of Silver
soon. He told Marcella that he was sorry it had taken her
so many years to reach the top. Puzzled by his remark, she
asked him why he was sorry for her. He replied that it will
not take him half as long as it took her to get to the top.
Marcella chuckles as she says, “I smiled at him and replied,
‘Yes!’ I am so happy that because of the new YL business-building
tools and compensation plan, people can move up faster than
ever before. Success with Young Living is easier than it
has ever been. Having him tell me that was the greatest
thing someone could have said to me. Success is so easy
now.”
Marcella's nineteen-year-old son, Dallas, once told her
he did not think he could be successful at Young Living
because he would never know as much about the oils as his
mom did. Marcella shares, "I told him that was exactly
how I used to feel. I would go to YL trainings and I would
feel like I could never know everything I needed to. I was
going to all these meetings where I would be furiously taking
notes to learn as much as I could. Gaining knowledge was
good, but I was getting so discouraged."
Then Marcella met Frank Burns. He helped her tremendously
by helping her understand the business side of Young Living.
He told her that she would have a very difficult time succeeding
with her business if her only focus was as a teacher. Marcella
says, "I had dinner with Frank and asked him to tell
me what he had done to build his very successful business.
He said that in network marketing, you get what you focus
on. He called it the law of attraction. Simply it means
that, if you focus on teaching, you will only attract other
teachers. If you focus on business building, you will attract
business builders." Once people experience the oils,
Marcella has found that this initial encounter will give
them a foundation to build upon. She says, "When people
use the oils, they feel their power and know that they work.
I have discovered that I do not have to know every detail
about how the oils work. All I have to know is that they
do work." Marcella shared this concept with her team
members and the shift has been profound.
When asked what motivates her to succeed, Marcella answers,
"I share Young Living with everyone that I meet so
that I can sleep at night. I am not driven by whether they
buy or not. I am driven by a burning desire for them to
understand that Young Living will have a positive impact
on their physical, mental, emotional, and financial wellness."
Marcella is also motivated by fun. She teaches that life
is all about enjoying what you are doing. Marcella says,
"I like to have fun. This has been a major shift for
me. I now ask myself everyday, how am I going to have fun
today? How am I going to help others have fun today? We
should get up looking forward to every day of our life.
If we are having fun, if we are serving others, if we are
making a difference in this world, we will be excited for
each day that we are given." Marcella has found that
life is full of choices and that everyone can choose to
be happy and to have fun. She shares, "We can choose
to be happy. Stuff happens to every one of us. It is how
we choose to handle it that sets apart the winners and losers.
If we choose to be we will be winners. Life is all about
attitude. We must live with passion. We must live to be
happy. We must live to serve others. If we do these things,
we will be successful and we will love our life."
Constantly reaching for new heights, Marcella is taking
another huge step into the world of book publishing by coauthoring
a network marketing book with another Young Living distributor,
James Dillehay. Joining them as a coauthor is Jay Conrad
Levinson, the genius behind the hugely successful Guerilla
Marketing books. She says, "I am so excited about my
new book. I am honored that James and I are working together
with Jay to give network marketers everywhere the tools
required to be successful." Her new book will be available
in bookstores in the fall of 2006. Marcella previously published
a book titled "Yes, No, Maybe" Chronobiotic™ Nutrition,
which teaches the value of eating foods at precise times
of the day for specific health results.
Summing up the knowledge she has gained in her remarkable
achievement of becoming a Crown Diamond, Marcella shares,
"To get to the very top, you have to be able to serve
others. You have to get your ego out of the way. You have
to find the strength to push yourself out of the picture
and focus on others.
Once you are able to do this – serve others without reservation
or desiring something for yourself – you will be successful.
I’m not talking about a little successful; I am talking
about amazing, outrageous success.”
Walking the talk, Marcella has lived her life in the service
of others. Her example teaches that a rewarding and successful
life is not only about serving others, it is about the journey
rather than the destiny. She says, "Enjoy the journey.
It is not so much about where we get as how we get there.
Young Living has so much to offer everyone that there is
more than enough to share with all who desire it. I desire
to see more Diamonds, many more Diamonds. I invite all Young
Living distributors to come up and join me; there is plenty
of room at the top."
